UH Maui College is committed to providing all students with equal access to its academic courses, educational programs, and related services. In accordance with Section 84.4 of the federal rules and regulations governing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990), no qualified individual with a disability shall, on the basis of their disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity that receives or benefits from federal financial assistance.
All UH Maui College students with documented disabilities, either permanent or temporary, who voluntarily disclose their disability status to the Accommodation Services Office may be provided with reasonable academic accommodations after completing the intake process. Examples of accommodations include alternative text, note taker, sign language interpreter, campus accessibility map, and specifically designed auxiliary equipment to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
Before receiving reasonable accommodations, students must self-identify their request for services and complete the intake process by indicating specific academic accommodations/auxiliary aids and providing supporting documentation. Students desiring academic accommodations are advised to contact the Accommodation Services Counselor by phone at 808-984-3227 or email at uhmcds@hawaii.edu as early as possible so that services may be arranged on a timely basis.
