Provides an introduction to the histories and cultures of the Philippines and of the global Filipino diaspora, while centering the experiences in Hawaiʻi and the U.S. Focusing on race, ethnicity, culture, and globalization, the course examines how social structures impact present-day Filipino communities and their relationships to Native Hawaiians and other communities in Hawai‘i.
